Akberet
Akberet came to Norway in 2013 on family reunion. She is fiftysomething, now a widow, and have five grown up children, and one granddaughter. Her three youngest lives in Norway, and she have a son in Germany and a daughter in Sweden. She has been a freedom fighter in Eritrea for four years, and after that seven years in prison.
Now she is living in Rollag, and have her job at Garnsurr from March 2017. We love her creativity and her dedication to Garnsurr and our goals – she is a real veteran, and the mentor for the other ladies at Garnsurr.
Leila
Leila is still in her thirtys, and came to Norway from Afghanistan in 2013. She is a lonely parent with four children, and did not get any education before she came to Norway. We’re really impressed over her, and all she has accomplished after she came to Norway; Reading and writing has been a big task for her, and the dying at Garnsurr have been a way of learning more, also math and digital skills.
Besides the dying, Leila also pack your orders:-)
Yordanos
Yordanos is also still in her thirties, and have both husband and twins (soon starting at school) in Rødberg, here in Numedal. She came to Norway in 2017 on family reunion (her husband came in 2014), and despite five years in school in Eritrea, there is a big knowledge gap according to basic skills.
She is a really skilled knitter and astonish us daily with her vibrant colour. This last year she has been on Norwegian training every thursday and friday at Garnsurr, but from fall 2019, she is a part of our full-time staff!
